LIVING LIBRARY - a game concept



"Living Library" is a concept for game based learning, that won the golden pineapple award 2008 for best learning potential and it´s extendability based on the special "bookshelf categories framework. The story behind the game: A young man heirs an old library. He´s not that well pleased about that old, dusty and wrecked down library so he kicks a book out of one of the bookshelfs in his anger. While the book is falling and opening it sucks the character into it magically. Now the player/character finds himself in the world the book is about, example the ancient vikings, and has to solve some mysteries etc. When the stage/book is played through successfully the dusty bookshelf turns into a shiny one. The library gets revitalized part by part and that´s the story that influenced the title: "LIVING LIBRARY".

Beside the concept I visualizied some of the content and created a logo:
